11 easy steps to give a paper presentation

On 1/26/2015
Here are some of the easy steps that you should follow before giving a Paper Presentation :

  1. Firstly you should double check that the topic you choose is fresh i.e submitting ppt on Nano Technology wont be selected ,as their are many articles published on this topic and many submission comes from such topics which gives  a basic information about Nano Technology an evaluator easily rejects such submission , because he finds it as of no use instead use Nano Technology Boon for Deaf and Visually Hampered as your topic, this has a great chances of selection and it clearly shows that if you play with words then it can really impress the evaluator.
  2.  List only important points don't include a bunch of theory.
  3. For Abstract Submission , give a brief extract of your topic, do not forget to include strong points of your topics.
  4. Try explaining things using flow charts, bars, diagrams and pictures about your research.
  5. Explain judges and audience what are the new things that you have found in your topic, don't worry about the application and feasibility, as innovators are thinkers who failed several time to come out with one innovation.
  6. Regular usage of postures and gestures gives your presentation and extra edge , so do follow it.
  7. Don't Include unnecessary slides , instead you can add short title on slides including pictures and diagrams and leave rest of the content for speech delivery.
  8.  Font Selection, colour combination and animation also plays major role in selection criteria.
  9. Do not loose your confidence at any point even if stammer, as this reflects your knowledge on the topic.
  10. Include regular pauses, and don't let your hands or legs shake as this shows that you are low on confidence.
  11. Always have a smile on your  face and maintain eye contact, welcome jury members, guest and students and thanks giving speech gives your presentation a catchy look.
Most of the private engineering college students wish that their papers get selected in top engineering institutes like IIT's, NITs and Deemed Universities for International Exposure, if you follow above simple steps , then it would make your journey a bit easier to get their.

GRE (Studying Abroad)

On 1/11/2015

GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATION(GRE)

SOURCE:gre.crackverbal.com

Graduate Record Examination(GRE) is one of the most popular exam among Indian students who aspire to study in U.S.A or Canada. It created and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) in 1949. It is a fairly standardized test that measures the verbal, mathematical and general analytical skills of the candidate, though the format has undergone quite a few changes over the years. It is an admission requirement for many graduate courses, especially in engineering and the sciences, in the USA.
GRE genral test is available throughout the world in more than 500 locations, though you will have to book your slot in advance. It is offered as a computer-based exam administered at Prometric testing centers. In the graduate school admissions process, the level of emphasis that is placed upon GRE scores varies widely between schools and between departments within schools. The importance of a GRE score can range from being a mere admission formality to an important selection factor.

GRE Subject Tests

In addition to the General Test, there are also seven GRE Subject Tests testing knowledge in the specific areas of Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology; Biology; Chemistry; Literature in English; Mathematics; Physics; and Psychology. The length of each exam is 170 minutes.

In the past, subject tests were also offered in the areas of Computer Science, Economics, Revised Education, Engineering, Geology, History, Music, Political Science, and Sociology. In April 1998, the Revised Education and Political Science exams were discontinued. In April 2000, the History and Sociology exams were discontinued; with Economics, Engineering, Music, and Geology being discontinued in April 2001.]The Computer Science exam was discontinued after April 2013.

Structure of GRE

The structure of the computer-based GRE revised General Test consists of six sections. The first section is always the analytical writing section involving separately timed issue and argument tasks. The next five sections consist of two verbal reasoning sections, two quantitative reasoning sections, and either an experimental or research section. These five sections may occur in any order. The experimental section does not count towards the final score but is not distinguished from the scored sections. Unlike the computer adaptive test prior to August 2011, the GRE revised General Test is a multistage test, where the examinee's performance on earlier sections determines the difficulty of subsequent sections. This format allows the examinee to freely move back and forth between questions within each section, and the testing software allows the user to "mark" questions within each section for later review if time remains. The entire testing procedure lasts about 3 hours 45 minutes. One-minute breaks are offered after each section and a 10-minute break after the third section.

The paper-based GRE General Test consists of six sections and is only available in areas where computer-based testing is unavailable. The analytical writing is split up into two sections, one section for each issue and argument task. The next four sections consist of two verbal and two quantitative sections in varying order. There is no experimental section on the paper-based test.

How To Prepare for GRE?

A variety of resources are available for those wishing to prepare for the GRE. ETS provides preparation software called PowerPrep, which contains two practice tests of retired questions, as well as further practice questions and review material. Since the software replicates both the test format and the questions used, it can be useful to predict the actual GRE scores. ETS does not license their past questions to any other company, making them the only source for official retired material.  Several companies provide courses, books, and other unofficial preparation materials.

Some students taking the GRE use a test preparation company. Students who do not use these courses often rely on material from university text books, GRE preparation books, sample tests, and free web resources.

There are also several coaching institutions available who provides training to  the students aspiring to take GRE.
